Last week the Pentagon released its budget for military intelligence, topping out at over $18 billion for fiscal year 2017 and bringing the total U.S. intelligence budget for the year to $73 billion.

The new budget marks an approximate $10 billion increase since FY 2007, but a fall of about $7 billion from a peak in 2010. Yearly the National Intelligence Program, which covers costs for the CIA and other generally non-military intelligence community programs, receives approximately twice as much funding as its military counterpart.

For context, the total estimated GDP for Kenya is $70.5 billion.
