Trump Calls North Korea's Kim Jong Un 'Madman' in Latest Personal Attack

President Donald Trump woke up this morning and unleashed another personal salvo against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, tweeting that the dictator "is obviously a madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people."

Trump went on to say Kim "will be tested like never before."

It's the latest barrage in an ongoing war of personal insults between the two leaders that Trump took to a new level Tuesday when he used his address to the United Nations General Assembly, the biggest possible stage in international diplomacy, to call Kim a "rocket man" "on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime." (Trump also threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea if the U.S. is forced to defend itself or its allies.)

In response to the UNGA speech, Kim reportedly released a rare public statement likening Trump to a "frightened dog" and calling his behavior "mentally deranged."

"I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue," the statement said. "Whatever Trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation. I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire.”

This morning Trump quickly moved on from calling out the North Korean leader, tweeting praise from his supporters, then a Twitter data graphic showing he was the most tweeted about world leader and then a complaint about the Russia "hoax."
